Middle School Math Interventionist - Young Women's College Prep

Job Summary:

The Math Interventionist is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Interventionist provides individual, small group, and classroom instruction to students as assigned. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. Preference to those with experience using manipulatives, hands on activities, stations, etc.

Essential functions of the job may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Uses data to provide instruction to students and to bring their skills to grade-level
  • Develop schemes of work, lesson plans and assessments that are in accordance with established procedures.
  • Collaborates with teachers, administration, and families to help identify best practices for individual and small groups of students
  • Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the code of conduct and disciplinary systems of the school.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on student work.
  • Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of students’ progress and development.
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws and school policies and regulations.
  • Prepare reports on students and activities.
  • Participate in department, school, professional development and parent meetings.
  • Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities.
  • Prepare the classroom for class activities.
  • Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.

Other functions of the job include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly make and return phone calls and email correspondence.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • New York State Certification. Other state certifications or experience will be considered.

  • Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology.
  • Meet professional teacher education and staff development requirements of the school and the
    state.
